One person was killed and another was critically injured in a crash on U.S. 129 in Jackson County Monday morning.

A report from the Georgia State Patrol said the wreck happened just before 8:00 a.m. at the intersection of 129 and John B. Brooks Road near Pendergrass. Officials said a black Chrysler 200 was going north on 129 when it failed to yield and turned left onto John B. Brooks Road.

It was then hit in the passenger side by a southbound white Ford F-250. Both vehicles went off the roadway after the collision, with the truck ending up on its roof.

The passenger of the Chrysler was killed, while the driver was critically injured and taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville for treatment. The driver of the truck reportedly suffered minor injuries but was not hospitalized.

The names of those involved in the crash have not been released. Georgia State Patrol officials say charges are pending against the driver of the Chrysler.
