A Cartersville man was recently arrested for a burglary and criminal trespass incident at a local credit union.

The Gainesville Police Department said in a social media post that Victor Barragan, 35, was arrested Friday after that incident at the MyGeorgia Credit Union on Limestone Parkway.

Gainesville Police responded just before 7:30 a.m. to that location. The actual burglary is estimated to have taken place just before 4:30 a.m. Friday.

Detectives were able to identify Barragan as the suspect by using surveillance footage from local businesses along with evidence on the scene.

"Barragan allegedly used a rock to break a window to gain entry into the credit union, causing about $450 in damages," the social media post said. "Upon entry, Mr. Barragan began searching through several drawers before exiting the business. Nothing was reported missing at the time of the report."

K9 officers, detectives and patrol responded to the 2400 block of Lighthouse Manor Drive in an attempt to locate Barragan. He was found in the area of Lighthouse Manor's parking lot in a family member's vehicle and arrested at about 2:45 p.m.

Barragan was charged with 2nd-degree burglary and criminal trespass. He was booked at the Hall County Jail on $34,840 bond. Jail records showed he remained there as of Tuesday morning.
